Prospective students must have graduated from a nationally accredited master’s program with at least a B accreditation or from an internationally recognized master’s program as acknowledged by the Directorate General of Higher Education.
Prospective students must meet the following requirements:
- Have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited master’s program (minimum accreditation B) at the time of graduation.
- Have at least one published article in a national scientific journal or one manuscript ready for submission to a reputable international scientific journal.
- Provide two recommendation letters from individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic potential:
- Two faculty members from the applicant’s master’s and/or undergraduate program (for those without an institutional affiliation), OR
- One faculty member from the applicant’s master’s program and one institutional supervisor from the applicant’s workplace.
- Academic English Proficiency Test (AcEPT) UGM with a minimum score of 272;
- Test of English Proficiency (TOEP PLTI) from the Indonesian Test Service Center with a minimum score of 498;
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.5;
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
- Internet-Based Test (iBT) with a minimum score of 61; OR
- Institutional Testing Program (ITP) with a minimum score of 500.
Applicants must have a minimum score of 550 on an academic potential test from one of the following:
- Postgraduate Academic Potential Test (PAPS) UGM;
- Basic Academic Potential Test from the Indonesian Test Service Center (TPDA PLTI);
- Academic Potential Test from the National Development Planning Agency (TPA Bappenas).
Applicants must submit administrative documents related to Academic Requirements, English Proficiency, Academic Potential, and other supporting documents as follows:
- Dissertation research proposal manuscript
- Certified copies of diplomas and academic transcripts
- Curriculum vitae
- Medical certificate from a doctor
- Recommendation letters
- For employed applicants, a study permit from their employer
- Scientific publication manuscript
- If available, proof of additional education undertaken
- If available, proof of participation in scientific activities
- Proof of payment for the application fee
- Statement of financial commitment for study expenses, except for those who have applied for a government scholarship
- Proof of communication with the prospective Supervisor
- Statement of study objectives
- Applicants from institutions that have a partnership with UGM must include a copy of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) or cooperation agreement with UGM, or an official letter confirming their scholarship award.
